Evolv Edge Scans More Than 1 Million People, Protecting Against Current and Emerging Threats

Evolv Accelerates Global Expansion and Adoption of AI-Powered Physical Threat Detection

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Evolv Technology today announced Evolv EdgeTM, its physical threat detection and prevention system powered by artificial intelligence, has scanned more than one million people around the world at the pace of life. As adversaries create a need for security to protect any event, transportation location and venue that could be seen as a target, Evolv is focused on delivering technology to proactively keep people and assets safe by detecting threats before they happen.

Accelerated Company Growth

Since the company’s founding in 2013, Evolv has expanded to 45 employees and solidified several installations and engagements that have been instrumental to informing the continued evolution of its products. Evolv now has distributors operating the Evolv Edge in 14 countries across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and the technology has been tested at five different government labs.

“These are truly motivating and critical milestones for Evolv as we fulfill a vision of a world where seamless security is possible anywhere,” said Mike Ellenbogen, CEO and co-founder of Evolv Technology. “We can no longer wait for something to happen before we take action. We need to implement modern technology solutions that allow us to take a proactive approach to prevent the evolving threats facing today’s society, rather than reacting after the fact. Evolv Technology's vision is to rethink physical security by providing smarter protection using high speed threat sensors, combined with biometrics like facial recognition and emerging technologies to screen more people, more quickly and more securely.”

Increasing Customer Adoption of Risk-Based Security

After completing pilots at 30 different customer locations in 2017, Evolv is screening people every day at many different types of venues globally including performing arts centers, stadiums, airports and hospitals. Customer engagements include installations at Oakland International Airport (OAK) and The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, along with installations at a number of venues in New York City, the most targeted city for terrorism outside of war zones.

The Evolv Edge uses sensors to detect a range of metallic and non-metallic threats, while also integrating with facial recognition to identify people of interest. For these use cases, Evolv Edge offers an improved level of security screening balanced with a seamless visitor experience. The technology also enables a risk-based approach, allowing venue operators and security professionals to adjust the screening sensitivity based on knowledge of an individual, for example, increasing security for unknown visitors and allowing employees and seasons pass holders to walk through even more quickly. Evolv's products are built to operate without the need for people to stop, pose, empty their pockets or put their mobile phones to the side. The technology automatically detects the object of interest and provides targeted location for further assessment.
